Scarlet thread
Scarlet thread the needle twice
Stretch, yarn the threaded part
Torn, gone, the past behind
Run, run, the mind recites.
Scarlet thread, my oldest scarf
Thick, worn the rounded part
Buried, dead, the memories gone
Run, run, the mind recites.
Scarlet thread my fingers bound
Tighter, scare the visions now
Yank, pull, the desire grows
Run, run, the mind recites.
Scarlet thread I want to cut
Loose, shred the newest ones
Burn, hide the secret dreams
Run, run, the mind recites.
Scarlet thread you owe me now
Kept, hidden the lines we’ve sown
Closed, locked the truest yearn
Run, run, the mind recites.
Scarlet thread you know it’s you
Hate or love, it’s you who choose
Forbidden, scare the Cupid bow
Run, run, the mind recites.
Scarlet thread, let’s end it now
Dreams, dreams that wouldn’t have
Chaos, drown the boxes now
Run, run, the mind recites.
Scarlet thread, my favourite parts
Past, present, the future knows
Farewell, roll the spool of thread
Run, run, the mind recites.
I wrote this poem with my own meaning in mind. But once it belongs to the world, it belongs to every reader too. What story did you find woven into these lines?
